Here's an update on my brick. The Saab (SOB) who hit my DL broke a tie rod and wheel bearing. Although the insurance is willing to pay for the repairs, they are disputing the deductible, which just happens to be above the amount the repairs will cost :>). I wrote the insurance a letter that explained the uninsured motorist section and the relationship of hit-and-run to this provision and thus the deductible is waived according to the policy. The police gave me the name and address of the Saab owner, but it seems to be a dead end (the building owner seemed credible and said that she never heard of the owner). The police confirmed the address they gave me. The perpetrator has a common name, so I found several people in my area with that name. So far, I'm the one giving my insurance information on the perpetrator, not the other way around (you'd think they'd be eager to find out who his insurer is so that they can pass the bill onto the other insurer).
I'm also staking out the accident scene to look for him (I suspect that he lives around there, as he was parked from 9 PM until 7:30 AM on a weeknight).
Anyone have any ideas on how to hunt down this Saab SOB?
