Are volvo bumbers painted black? 700 1985

My 760 has had a replacment bumper put on the front at some stage, but still has the original on the rear, the rear one has the 2 tone finish but the front is black and looks unpainted (I like the look).
Did the black only bumpers have paint on them or were they just a bare plastic finish???

I would like to strip the paint off the rear bumper to match the front bumper, but I'm not sure how it will come up if I just strip it, and wether it will match the front.

Has anyone tried stripping the paint off these bumpers before? I was thinking of trying a little paint stripper, but I don't know if it will ruin the plastic or not.
