DIY Central Door Lock Results 700 1992

Hello All,

After weeks of trying to figure out why my central door locks no longer worked on by 92 745T, I now have my answer. Here is a review of my problem:

Drivers door lock no longer controled other doors and tailgate with either the key or by manually lock/unlocking the knob. Also tailgate lock would not lock with a key. Checked fuse and replaced central door lock relay ($21). No change.

Received wiring diagram from other Brickboarder (you know who you are, and many thanks!) and lots of other great tips from other readers. Finally found auto electrical guy from local Volvo parts store who made house call to my work (must have spent 8 hours of my own time on this thing). Within 5 minutes, he finds that driver's door lock had apparently stuck in a position that sent power to other lock actuators, which he thinks fried the motors in about an hour. His bill for this was a Franklin.

After saying that I would not be interested in replacing all of these parts, he removed one power lead from lock side of door switch electrical connector to break that circuit.

I later took the rear panel off the inside tailgate to see why the tailgate lock wouldn't move. Actuator was frozen and wouldn't allow the tailgate lock to move. Removed connecting rod from actuator to lock, and now tailgate will lock with key. Biggest problem is now solved!

Some indicated that never heard all actuators going out but apparently they do. I hope others can get by with just a new relay.
