Dome light question 200

My '81 GL used to keep the dome light on for about 30 seconds after I shut the door. A while ago it stopped doing that, couldn't say exactly when. I was just wondering, is it supposed to do that, anyone have an idea why it would stop. Doesn't bother me, just musing... Thanks.
