What Am I Looking For-Long Term? 900

Greetings, Bricksters: I've been a denizen of the 200 and 120 Series 'Boards for quite awhile, but, alas, the 240, about to turn 200K is being attacked by the dreaded 'Cleveland Tin Worm' and is starting to look its age. Oddly, a mechanic friend of mine approached me today and noted that his buddy was looking to sell a late '90s 960 and that he was thinking of picking it up for his mother. He went over it, gave it a clean bill of health (he's meticulous that way), and then found out that Mom didn't want it, bless her heart. so, he asked me if I was interested. "Maybe," I said, as a stall, and am now turning to you for assistance. Car has about 115K on the odo, is in superb shape, and is selling for about $5K, more or less. Question: Since I have no eaperience with this model, what am I looking at, long term? Is it a quality machine that I'll be happy with like my 240, or am I going to find out it's high maintenance and prone to niggling little problems that are going to keep cropping up? Is the interior durable? The engine and trans? Is the body prone to rust and where? Does it have headliner problems like the 700 series? Does this model have Nivomats? If so, what kind of life do I expect? In short, can someone give me a few of the + and - of this particular model, and an idea if the price is in the balllpark? I believe that he indicated that it was a '97 or thereabouts. As always, thanks!

Brad
