The very nice -88 245 I bought two years ago now starts to show the very first signs of rust rot on the rear hatch after a long winter on heavily salted roads. I've had a few of these cars before, and on the -73 145 a long time ago the only cure was to go the boneyard to pick up another not so rusty door, and this lasted only for a while. Is it really possible to delay or even stop this development without working my ass off? The rust usually starts around the window, lower part and especially the corners. I don't mind spending a sunday on this, but if it will just start again after the next salty winter it's maybe better to let the door rust till it falls off and then purchase a brand new door from the dealer. What do you say, you other proud owners of 245's? (Keep quiet you lucky bastards living in areas where salted roads are unknown, cause then your 245 will last for ever with the help of this forum!...)
