Hey everybody,
I`m in the process of doing my timing belt and seal replacement as the seals have had it and things are starting to get messy under the hood.The camshaft seal looks ok but the other two are shot.I`m also getting a coolant leak though I have not determined exactly where it is coming from.The shaft on the WP is solid no leaks from the bearings; replaced about 1 and a half years ago.
A couple of questions that I have are;
1.How do you keep the sprockets from turning when removal for seal installation?
2.Has anyone tried to jam a large screwdriver into the ring teeth on the flywheel?,
(this is likely what I`ll do to keep the crankshaft steady while I take the pulley off).
3.Does this hold everything including the camshaft?
4.Will I have to do the finger compression test on the #1 cylinder to determine TDC valves closed? (The timing mark lines up on the camshaft sprocket).
I`ve got everything apart and I`m ready to get started.My first time doing this and any input from experienced BB`ers would be "simply smashing, mates"!
