Replacement of Oxygen Sensor - 3 wire Connection Question 200

How can I be sure that I crimp the proper white wire on the new sensor to its cooresponding white wire on the existing connection?

I purchased an oxygen sensor to replace my faulty one. It is 3 wire version. It has 1 black wire and 2 white wires. I need to cut the existing connection and crimp the wires to this new sensor. Obviously, I connect black to black. However, one white wire is for the ground and the other white wire is for the power (black wire is for signal).

I need (do I?) to be sure to connect each white wire to the correct wire on the existing connection.

Thanks for any help.
