Looks like the insulation on the engine wiring harness in my '86 245 has begun recycling itself. Replacing it looks more tedious than hard, so I think I might try my hand at it. I'm not interested in repairing it since it looks bad in multiple places and I intend on keeping the car for the long haul, so I don't begrudge spending the money on her.
Is there a source of documentation on this procedure or is it as straight forward as it looks? Is it pretty much just "plug-n-play" or are there there some finer points to it? Anyone have any tips or hints that'd make it easier?
Also, I'm wondering if there are any particular brands of wiring harnesses that are better than others. I'd like to avoid a "Made in Mexico" cheapie, but I'm certainly not above buying quality aftermarket parts.
thanks!
