Thanks to excellent posts my duaghters 1988 240GL has passed emmissions. The next couple of things deal with the sunroof (manual) and suspension.
The sunroof is extremely hard to crank open and closed. I did remove the sunroof and cable covers did a quick job of cleaning as much as I could. Should I remove the cables, clean them and relube? What type of lubricant - Lithium? I guess the other option is to remove the headliner and really get in there and clean (I am sure I will find a great deal of New Mexico dirt and leaves).
My second question involves the suspension. I have performed a cursory check of brakes, struts and shocks (rears need replacing) etc and nothing is ready to 'fall off'. Now that we are ready to put it on the road I feel I should do a more thorough check. Other than what is typical (check ball joints etc) are there any other checks fellow bricksters would recommend? Vehicle has about 225k miles on it and I am unsure what has been done in the past.
As always thanks for the feed back. In working to get the car to pass emmissions here in NM I basically followed advise given here and it passed with flying colors. Amazing. Boht my daughter and I thank everyone.
