Was under the car today and noticed the following...
Picture looking at the sedan side on from passenger side, ... back to left of screen front to right of screen.
Okay, from back to front (left to right), we have tail pipe, muffler, cat, manifold.
Now, written on the muffler itself (midas brand) it says "INLET" and under the word is an arrow that points to the front; back to front, left to right.
So my questions is this, ... does this "INLET" refer to airflow, if so then isn't the muffler on backwards? If not, can someone explain to me what the inlet direction refers to. This isn't a sticker or label but raised metal on the muffler's exterior shell. The arrow is large, almost 3/4 of the length of the muffler.
Just got the car a few months ago and am doing repairs bit by bit as the temp is warming up outside. I guess I could pose a second question here, if the muffler was on backwards what effects would it have on the car?
Thank you in advance.
