I'm a big fan of the 700/900 Series of Volvos; they are really rugged and reliable cars that have their own following, just like the other models. However, what strikes me is that this series, from the beginning in '83 until the end in '98, had somewhat cheap and cheesy-looking interior materials. Example: The strange automatic climate control face design in '83-87 760s, and the problem with drooping headliners in just about all the '80s models. They just don't seem to have the same high-quality materials as, say, Lexus LS400s or Acura Legends- although I'll still take the Volvos any day over the Japanese cars, since they'll always outlast them.
