Ok fixed my OD today (well seems ok so far) problem was the joint between the lead leading tothe solanoid and spade connector on the end (thanks to the OD guru for pointing out the jiggle test on the lead...)
FYI you can do this op with the car on its wheels (I just did!) but it sure helps if your 6'2"! (i.e. long reach!) what a crap peice of design...still easily fixable...
while i was down there I found out where the oil i have been loosing has been going (hint rust in the transmission tunnel isnt goign to be a problem!) The leak is commign from the top of the block at the front (mainly noticable on the water pump) - my mech (not a brick expert) thinks it could be cylinder head gasket - but im thinking more cam seal (seems to be some oil up higher than the ch gasket....) now the quantity of loss seems to be dependant on rpm, from very little round town to 1/2 ltr in 100 miles on a run at 4500 rpm.....
anyone got any thoughts? ??
