I'm new here, and having a good time fixing up a 1988 245. It's sure a lot easier to work on than the Saab turbo which preceded it!
In hopes of getting a bit more clearance to pull out the instrument cluster, I removed the steering wheel pad. (Then, of course, it turned out I didn't need to.)
In any event, I'm having a tough time getting the pad back in place. I can't seem to push the edges far enough "in" and "forward" so they catch. Bentley's no help here. The only thing I can think of to try is to spread some grease on the various edges and lips in hopes that things will slide together correctly.
Have any of you faced this problem? Any tips you can pass on?
Thanks!
