Front dash speakers-replacements 900

Thanks to the 900 FAQ I was able to remove the dash grille and have a look at the dash speakers. They look like tweeters only.
I'm looking for likely replacements as all the other original speakers on the 1993 960 are on the way out.
Any suggestions?
I'm confused over the size of speakers to use. Will the (roughly) 3.5" hole accept 3.5" speakers or 4" speakers as the JBL website suggests?
One last thing-Pyle speakers while being a lot cheaper than top brand names, look suspiciously like some of them. I don't want to break glass with the audio system, just a good, rich sound.
