HELP: check engine light craze! What is the RIGHT ECU to buy? 200

I've checked everything and my mechanic says my ECU is a mystery (seems to be a junkyard replacement with no visible serial numbers). What ECU SHOULD I BUY? I.E. which is the ECU that was not problematic?
