clutch cable replacement reminders 200 1983

Good Day all.

83 245 DL (wagon) w/unknown miles exhibiting shudder symptoms on "letting out" (engaging) the clutch. Lot of slack/travel in pedal, has increased gradually over time. I think p.o. put a hose clamp on adjuster, haven't adjusted the clutch cable EVER since I got car in 10/2000.

Wanna take easy and sensible way out, have a nearly new cable from previous 83 242DL that rusted to smithereens, kept the good cable.

--Any reminders, advice? Wagon cable diff from sedan?

--Can't recall wrench size(s) necessary--22mm? 24? Bigger?

BTW when did Volvo go hydraulic on the clutch, is clutch on 93 240 hydraulic or cable- operated? Just curious...
