240 Wagon heater/ac question 200 1987

my friends 87 Volvo 240 wagon will not blow any heat/air at all, and the blower motor never comes on. I'm just wondering if a 88 740ti blower motor is the same as in the wagon? and what are some other possible things to check? if the 88 740ti blower motor is the same then I will just give it to my friend as my volvo is being dedicated to track use and the occasional summer weekend driving. thanks in advance for any help/info about this.
