Good day. As many of you likely know, I have a 1989 760 with the 6 cylinder engine. The engine has had pretty well continuous power and gas milage issues. The suspension has also been getting gradually worse.

The emergency car situation:
The car is leaking oil badly. The oil light comes on when the auto trans is put into gear, as well as when the car comes to a stop. It's also coming on when the engine idles really low... the idle wavers. I added oil, but this does not help the problem at all. I am running Mobil 1. I had a major leak from the dipstick repaired last month. The transmission will also not shift into overdrive. I have added Dexron III transmission fluid, which only temporarily fixes the problem.

It's a little late to ask now, but what transmission fluid am I supposed to use?

Also, I've noticed an ODD phenomenon. It would appear my shocks, nivomats, trunk shocks, and hood struts have all failed at about the same time. If this is a sign, like, from God or something, I'd like a confirmation. Is there something I could be overlooking that causes this?

Odds are high I won't be able to get the car in the shop for almost a month. Any suggestions for things to check before taking her across town to the only Volvo mechanic in town?
