So another Volvo folowed me home last December and since it's free, wive said I can keep her.She's white 87 244DL clean no rust 189k w/ a blown head gasket. This is my third volvo ( 11th or 12th life-to-date). Fixed head gasket and had cylinder head resurfaced cleaned and check by a good machine shop. Replaced Tbelt and tensioner and front seals (of course!) Runs very good but failed Emission test. Failed HC 181 (Standard 157),Failed CO 4.90 (Standard 1.0)Passed Nox 783 (Standard 1121)..This is Hi-speed Emission Results..1864 RPM. On Low speed Passed HC 162 (Standard 162), Failed CO 1.7 (Standard .91) Failed Nox 2011 (Standard 1227). I took it to my Volvo shop and have everything checked and put back to right specs but even after everthing was set emission figures are still " not right". We found out that the CAT has nothing inside,hollow!! I had a cat installed (from FCP Groton-NICK) and had a reinspection and FAILED again, though figures are a lot better.. On high speed
HC Passed 144 (standard 157), CO FAILED 3.3 (Standard 1.0), Nox Passed 458 (Standard 1121).. On Low Speed HC Passed 155 (Standard 162), CO FAILED 3.9 (Standard .91), NOx Passed 496 ( Standard 1227).
This car has not been running for maybe 6 mos. O2 sensor AMM has been checked and Fuel pressure regulator is new. I put a bottle of RPX(or is it RXP?) today and intend to drive it for a few days before I do a take three on the emission test. Any suggestions ?? Ideas ??? A miilion thanks in advance!!
