Air/Fuel Control 200 1977

Is there a means to effectively bypass/disable the electrical connector on the air sensor body in order to use a later air/fuel control assembly which doesn't have this connector, and still have a functioning fuel system? It appears that just pulling the wires off the connector allows the fuel pump to run continuously which is perhaps not desirable, eh?
