need help.think i got screwed 700

Hi, i have a 1990 740 turbo.I bought a new motor last week to put in cuz mine has 420000km on it.The guy who sold me the engine said it was an 89 and i thought its probably a late 89 cuz there was no k printed on the block.Problem is i read tonight that on the head under exhaust port no 4 and mine writes 08 11 86.So he might say that just the head is 86 but the block isnt and that is my fear.Apparently the early b230 from 85 to mid 88 where rather weakand had bad connecting rod and crankshaft design.I was wondering are there any ways i can tell if the block is or not an 86?
