Synthetic oil too thin? 200 1983

Just rebuilt my b21fti about 2500 miles ago. Since then I've noticed that at idle my oil pressure reads low, sometimes even the light comes on. I tested the pressure and it read 11-13# at idle and 45# when revved up. Mechanic said nothing to worry about as long as i have proper pressure when driving. He also said to run normal oil, not synthetic. I'm not so sure about this so I was wanting some advice. Currently I'm running Mobil1 10-30 synthetic and was thinking maybe it is too thin. Not sure. Should I try 10-40 synth or otherwise? Or should I go back to regular oil to see if this helps. Again, its's only at idle when the pressure is low and I think I hear valves too.
Thanks.
