740 gearbox problems - jumping out of 2nd.. 700

posting this for my brother...

he has just had the box (m46) replaced in his 740 wagon, the replacement box came out of (allegedly, a 740 wagon with <100k on it that had a front end crunch)...

the new box feels sweet, BUT will jump out of 2nd gear...as the power arrives...

anyone got any ideas, the shop that did the swap is seriously useless (i.e trashed the prop shaft centre bearing doing the swap....)
