83 244 turbo
it STILL doesnt want to idle!
here are some facts
1. usually starts and idles fine in the morning (when cold)
2. often, no matter the time im driving, the rpm goes all the way down to 250 and then goes back up to 900 and stays when i am going to stop.
3. when sitting, it usually idles strongly with load on the engine, if it is in neutral idling, after 10 sec it will start cycling from 1500 - 250 and then end up dying.
4. when the cycling is happening, the boost gauge is moving (loss of vacuum?)
5. ALMOST ALWAYS dies when i give it a tiny bit of throttle, and then let off.(if i rev to 3000-4000 and let off it will recover but fumbles with the rpm a little bit, but doesnt seem to be threatening to stall.
6. after it dies, it most of the time needs a little gas to start, then i can ease it down to idle.
there are a few holes in the hoses going from the intercooler to the throttle body which are temporarily fixed with duct tape (until this weekend) this could lead to a vacuum leak?
also, the cat converter seems kinda clogged, should the cat on these cars restrict some flow? i took it off and put about 130 psi through and got maybe 2- 5 out. i took it to a volvo mechanic and thats what he said to check. i am in the process of getting one. i tried cleaning the cat but i dont think it did much.
only other thing i can think about, is whether this is fuel related. experts, does this sound like it could be related to fuel??? it is a cis fuel injection system, and i havent checked anything on it. thanks a lot! - chris ahl
