CR-814 vs CR-815 vs CR-915 and is there a Possible Don Foster Like Repair for FM?

What's the difference between a CR 814, 815, and a 915? I have a 93 940 sedan that I have an alpine s611 cd changer to hook up with. However, while I was waiting for the cd changer to show up, the FM on the current CR-814 is acting up (cutting in and out) Should I replace, fix, or is there a Don Foster like repair?
