starting/high idle problem 200 1988

Hi Gang-

1988 245 235k auto tranny.

Over the past couple of weeks my wife's volvo has been giving me some trouble. It normally starts just fine and runs well. Occasionally, it would not start, it would just turn over and not fire up. This was very intermittent, and unpredictable. Yesterday I went out to take a look at it, and it fired up fine, so I took it for a drive. When I got home and put it in park, the idle was very high. I turned it off and then it would not start again. This am, it still would not start. Not sputtering or firing, just keeps trying to turn over. I am not sure if it is related, but the idle adjustment screw is turned in all if the way. I checked the electric component that is attached to the back of the air intake, and it clicks when the ignition key is in the #1 position.

Any guidance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks-

Joe
