My '88 wagon has begun to shake the steering wheel about once every second. Each shake lasts for about 1/2 of a second and then there is no vibration for about 1 second. Then it goes again. This only happens when I hit about 55 - 60 MPH.

Any ideas as to cause ?

Also, I am finding my tires are having slow leaks, but there are no punctures. I have heard that old Volvo wheels are sometimes hard to seal (not round ?) Is this true ? Any suggestions to stop the leaks ?
