940 6-CD Changer problems 900 1993

My 6-CD changer is intermittently ejecting or failing to load a CD. Has anyone experienced similar problems and solved them? Do I need a new cartridge or should I try to replace the changer? Is there something else minor going on?

The sound is tremendous and really nice on long trips where I don't shut down the car often. After I shut down the car (or the radio), the changer often malfunctions and I have to go back to the trunk and eject and reload manually.
