So I talked my wife out of the minivan by shopping used 740's with a 3rd seats. (We need more passenger capacity - toting extra kids short distances i.e. soccer and violin class) After looking at several 740's with loose rattly cheap plastic interior parts, we realized that the 240 seems to be a MUCH more solid car and decided to keep the old 240 and simply get a third seat from the salvage yard. Thanks to an archive search of this site, I was able to find several helpul posts on the topic. The installation has gone well, but I'm down to the ambiguous part...the lower seatbelt mounts. Others have suggested that it simply gets bolted to the side of wheel well. There are many possible solutions all of which will work, but I want to know if anyone out there knows where it really was intended to be mounted? The thing that is throwing me is the fact that there is a little rectangular trim peice inorporated into the mount in such a manner that suggests that the actual bolt is below the deck or carpet, and the trim peice neatly "grommets" the opening. I just can't figure out where!
An interesting note, our kids were the most vocal proponants for keeping the old car. Eventhough their friend's mom's suv's and minivans are equiped with dvd video systems, and all that other "cool" kid junk!
