The patient: 1983 242 with B21A (Zenith-Stromberg carb). A few months ago, in the dead of winter, suffered a clogged flame trap; started pushing oil out the front seals. It was manageable, though, and I figured to limp along at least until it warmed and dried up enough for me to fix the thing in the driveway . . . or so I thought. A few days ago, (about 2 weeks ahead of the scheduled timing belt/seals fix), the oil leak(s) rapidly deteriorated into a smoking mess. I'm burning oil - out the tailpipe. I checked and replaced the flame trap (it wasn't clogged), reamed out the little orifice/nipple on the intake manifold, and blew compressed air back through the breather box/oil separator. At 80-90 psi, the air seemed to flow freely without restriction. And I'm still spewing a cloud of James Bond-like smoke screen behind me. The pressure is apparently forcing lotsa oil past the rings. It doesn't smoke at start-up, but within 1.5 miles or so, is going full bore. Failure on the "jiggle test". The oil leaks (front seals, oil filler cap, probably rear main but I 'm afraid to look) are flowing freely. What the heck can I do next?
