240 tangled with a semi--question about interchangeable parts 200 1989

Danm the luck. My beautiful '89 240 is no more, but on the bright side, I still am. A high speed sideswipe by a semi brought it to an untimely end. I bought the car back from the insurance company for only $160 because the driveline, tires, wheels, stereo, and many other parts are just fine. My plan is to find another '89 240 and use the wreck as a parts supply. My question is this: Since I'm finding the pickings very slim for 89s in the Minneapolis area so far, would it make sense to consider '88 or '90 models (which seem to be available in better numbers), or will I lose a lot of the parts interchangeability? I'm thinking especially of the computer modules and other electronic components. I haven't ruled out looking elsewhere in the country, but I'm a little reluctant to travel long distances for an older car. Thanks to responents for sharing your expertise!
Mike F.
