I am about to drive my 84 diesel wagon (191.000miles) across county from NYC to LA .
I have a series of high mountain passes to climb- some higher than others depending the route I take- A northern route thru Colorado includes Wolf Creek Pass is at 10.800 feet, Loveland is a 11,200 feet, choosing a southern route through New Mexico i do not go above 7000 feet. I prefer the motherly route, but will go south if altitude is a problem.
What can I expect from my d24 at these high altitudes? The highest I have had her is 4,000 on the blue ridge parkway. Performance was diminished at that altitude..
Will eleven thousand feet be a mountain too high for my brick?
Will I need the third lane- the one for trucks?
Will i have to jettison belongings to make it over the pass?
