JB weld to the rescue? on an H20 pump installation? 200 1983

Greetings,

The worst happened. 4 hr. water pump job? one man's hour is another's day....

Takin my time as I removed tired coolant pump, one of 7 bolts/fasteners holding old pump to block BROKE OFF in the block. PB Blasted multiple times prior, worst one at top of pump immediately right of donut gasket was culprit.

Seized w/ capital SSSSSS!

Smidgen of the bolt remained, clamped on strongest vise grip, remains broke off of course.

Tried to carefully drill out remains but all my bits broke, no access to correct tap, fast time klicked in, borrowed garage....

Carefully chiseled off remains to get clean flush surface. As I wondered what to do, I figured JB Weld around area of "breakage" might be better than simply torquing down 6/7 bolt holes.

Had time (>24 hrs.) and mildish weather for it to cure, also used copperized RTV as safety measure at all other connections/in & around bolt holes/ both sides of gasket, had artist's "palette" of orange and grey goops and favorite small skrewdriver as I went about doing what was supposed to be so simple.

Did pry up toward head, while torquing, good tight fit up there.

All my homework and prep. hadn't prepared me for this event.

No leak in 50 mi. drive home, will this hillbilly repair last?

Should I have gambled with torquing only 6/7 and crossed my fingers?

Other side of perfectionism is "doing what it takes."

Going into the unknown is dangerous, such a nice pump (new Hepu, German, good quality), too. School of hard knocks as it were.

Anyone encountered such success/failure?

Advice getting very difficult to come by 'round here.
