Installing a Pressure Gauge in the fuel line 200

Tomorrow I am going to take my Volvo to the mechanic for replacing the Main Fuel pump. I have a 2" 100 psi inline gauge(From Summit Racing) that I want also to install since it will save me from alot of guessing. The question is. Is in wise to cut 5" of the steel fuel line going to the fuel rail and install the gauge using 3/8" fuel hoses and clamps? Has anyone successfuly done this?

Thanks

Mike
