I'm having intermitent start problems on my 86 240 sedan 125,000.
I can crank for some time and won't start on the first try. On the second attempt it fires right away. Sometimes there is a thud in the back after cranking awhile.

If the fuel press. reg. tests fine, how can I know whether it is the check valve or pre-pump.
All original I'm sure.
