I hated working on the cooling system because pulling the lower rad hose always caused a mess. So I put off doing stuff that needed doing.
A couple of years ago I decided to install a drain in the lower rad hose.
Went to Home Depot. Checked plumbing. Found a grey plastic T with proper dia. and barbs (to fit lower rad hose) and threaded plug hole. Found brass 1/2(?) inch square drive plug in brass fittings section. Bought appropriate size hose clamps. Less than $10.
Cut lower rad hose in half. Installed everything. Been working for 2 years.
Draining is easy. A Prestone bottle with a low funnel fits under drain. For a trickle, remove plug. For a flood, remove reservoir cap.
