In the process of rebushing the front suspension, I devoted some attention to the brake calipers. It's a 1990 760 with Girlings front and rear. The two pins are exactly alike with the exactly the same pin diameter, but the bushings, into which they fit, are slightly different. Both pins are relatively snug in the upper bore, but both have noticeably more "wobble" in the lower bore. There's a TSB, #51907 02/94, that identifies a "rattle" issue with these calipers and specifies part #271854 as a remedy. The parts kit contains new pins with "integral bushings" and the TSB goes on to instruct that the "black" pins and "yellow" pins are inserted in reverse positions, side to side (left side, black on top; right side, yellow on top). Has anyone used this kit, and are the pin diameters different? Has the lower bore on my caliper just worn a lot more? Should I already have pins of different diameters? The rebuilt calipers are about three years old, and the piston movement is fine; the pins were well lubricated. I don't have the caliper on the other side off yet, for a comparison. I'm up for anything, to include (gulp!) buying NEW calipers, but I'd be happier if I could ratchet back the $$ expenditure. Thanks!!
