Well I finally found a nice '93 945 for wife.gov. It's white, 101K miles, and really clean. They are very hard to find here in Eugene, OR and I beat out another party at opening time by only 15 minutes to get it.The AC even is cold, unlike my 5 240s! Naturally there are a list of things to do to it to bring it up to snuff. I'm using the 700/900 FAQs. First will be to change all fluids. Then there is a small leak in an aftermarket radiator to fix. It may be ready for new shocks and struts but I'm not sure yet. I nearly went up to the IPD garage sale today to get some but it's too soon. Maybe next year. I'm still getting acquainted with the car and trying to convince it that I mean it no harm. Now for my question.
I'm familiar with the 240 suspension only, not having had the 740/940 chassis. At about 60 mph, I feel a slight vibration. My first thought was tire balance and I'll have that checked. I've also read that the control arm stay bushings get old and worn and can let the front end shimmy. I believe the bushings are original. At 100K are they likely to need replacement? Would the BB recommend the poly bushings from IPD? Is it better to wait on getting a wheel alignment until after replacing these bushings?
OK OK, I know that's three questions. I just got inspired and carried away. Thanks for your help. I've had lots of help on the 240's from this board.
