Hi, my sister called me today to inform that her '92 940 had "blown" its transmission. Something went very bad with drivability and she had it towed to a local mechanic, who gave her the "tranny shot" verdict. He himself does not do tranny repairs, so he wants the car out of there. I am going over to investigate, but I seem to recall that there is a "Limp Home Mode" built into the ECU of these cars. Could it be that? Can anyone give me some hints on what to look for? I have borrowed this car last year for several weeks and it ran like a champ, shifter silky-smooth. My sister is the original owner and has done "by-the-book" maintanance on the car untill several years ago when it went to her husband, who was less picky. Anyhow, the car has around 105K miles on it, which is nothing for these drivelines, as far as I understand. Please help me diagnose this. My sister want to trade the 940 fro a (oh, God!) Honda. I think there is probably something relatively minor, hardly a "shot" transmission.
TIA.
