brake failure light on- - need help 200

my brakes failure light on 1990 240 comes on. peddle goes down very low, almost to the floor. brake fluid reservoir full to max. no leaks under tthe car. happened without any prior problem or indication. any suggestion will be invaluable. thanks in advance.
