A whiney 1997 960 900 1997

My 1997 960 has recently started to make a 'whining' sound upon acceleration at low speeds. It does not do it all the time, but has increased in frequency. It will start as you press the gas pedal and begin acceleration, and will then stop suddenly, probably around 30-35 mph. It will resume if you slow down and re-accelerate. Does anyone have insight as to what this might be? If this helps, I noticed that it started after I had some rear brake work performed (new pads, rotors, and a new brake line). Thanks in advance.
