Fellas:
There was this persistent faint clunk/noise emanating from the left rear part of the car on take offs, deceleration, and ocassionally on turns that pestered me for the last six months. I've done just about everything to take care of it. Replaced all the rear susp. bushings (which were in bad shape), shocks, and all that stuff. Even tried switching susp. components on the left to the right. Checked and replaced u-joints and checked the drive shaft bearing. Yesterday, I decided to check the pillar between the front and rear doors. Sitting in the front seat with my feet out (as if getting out of the car and obviously, with the front door open) I pushed and tugged on the edge of the rear door (hinged side). And what do you know? I was able to replicate that barely audible, but very pestering clunk. I went ahead and bought some white lithium grease, shoot a liberal amount on the culprit lower hinge (and all the others, too). Hard to explain but, there's this rod like thing on the hinge that's under tension I guess... Anyway, clunks gone. Lessons learned: pay attention to all the stuff, even the little ones.
