A/C questions. Replacing expansion valve and drier anything else 200 1985

1985 245 that needs a/c work. My euro mechanic refilled the freon and found that the pressures on the a/c guages indicated the following:

1) compressor is good
2) no leaks
3) somewhere there is a blockage in the system
4) he guessed it to be the expansion valve

He told me to buy a new drier/receiver and an expansion valve to fix the problem. Being new to a/c (I live in Calgary, Alberta 9 months winter and 3 months bad skiing) I would like to get all of the possible parts that could be plugged before I go out there this week end. Any suggestions?
