The domain of the speedometer cable that needs fresh grease we've all seen: jump and jitter in the needle. However, what would cause this with a new cable and plenty of lube? The housing is original, could there be fraying inside causing the cable to snag? Does the speedo cable drive gear assembly ever wear out in an M46? Seems to be random as to when it wiggles or stays steady at high speed, but the needle is a constant wiggler slower speeds.
