88 760gle strange tachometer behavoir 700

a week ago my tach started acting funny, it would read zero at idle, and then come up when the engine revved, this was after i put in new plug wires and hall sensor. the next day, it was fine and has been since then, but i was wondering, is this an indication that my crank sensor is going bad?
