flame trap cleaning question 700 1990

I have a 1990 740 GL and I'm getting pressure pushing oil out the cap. I've read about cleaning the flame trap and I've done other work on the car but I can't locate the flame trap from descriptions here or the Chilton's manual. I feel like a dummy, but could someone explain better, it's on the drivers side, right, how far back? How far up or down the block?
