A few years back, my uncle and I installed a car alarm (Ungo MS850) in my 240. Somehow the brain/main control unit of the alarm got fried about a year later. We installed the main brain inside the center console, specifically inside the passenger center console kick panel. It's installed fairly close to the firewall. Upon inspection of the faulty unit, visually, it looks okay.
He sold his old vehicle and is supplying me with a replacement brain from the alarm. I do not believe the wires are long enough to relocate the alarm brain. And, I really prefer not to splice into the several wires to lengthen them.
Would there be any harm to put this thing in a zip lock bag and then put it back into center console? Of course, I'd cut some small holes for the wiring harness.
My reasoning is that I don't know if it was just a faulty unit or perhaps some condensation/moisture from the A/C may have caused the failure of the unit. I'd love to at least get the keyless entry working again on my system. :-)
