Engine runs rough if electric fan is on 700 1987

Each time the electric fan in front of the Intercooler kicks in,
the engine starts to run rough, and stumble. I have to keep
my foot on the gas to keep it running.
If I disconnect the fan, all is well.
Any ideas ?
