Throttle Body Plate Gap 900 1995

I just cleaned my throttle body for the first time (probably the first time it had been cleaned since its birth in Jan 1995) and I noticed that there is a small gap between the top of the plate and the TB when it is closed. The bottom seats well with no gap.

Is this gap normal, or does the TB need to be more air tight when the plate is closed?
